# UntitledOne

UntitledOne is an open-source platform for audio creatives who work together remotely: project files, versions and feedback on the exact moment in a track, in one place. It began as a side project in 2023 and became my graduation project.

## The brief

01

### Challenge

Audio creatives who work together remotely keep their files on Drive, their feedback in WhatsApp and their mixes on SoundCloud. Versions and comments get scattered, and there is no single place to collaborate before a release.

02

### Approach

Three in-depth interviews, a survey and a comparison of eight platforms pointed to the same needs: feedback on an exact moment in the track, files in one place and clear versions. I built those as an MVP, private by default, and left out everything about publishing and community.

03

### Outcome

Live at untitledone.nl and open source under the MIT licence. In the usability tests makers placed and found comments at an exact time without explanation, and a week-long field test showed the core flows hold up, and what still needs work.

## The site

The public site says what it is in one line: an open platform for audio creatives to collaborate remotely, exchange ideas and give targeted feedback.

## Feedback on the moment

A comment belongs to a moment in the track. It sits at that timestamp on the waveform, with replies under it, so feedback stays usable and traceable.

## Projects and versions

Every upload belongs to a version, and one version is the active one, so nobody has to guess which file is current.

## On a phone

Designed desktop-first, because the people it is for work in a DAW on a laptop or desktop. It holds on a phone.

## What testing changed

- A heuristic evaluation, done with AI support, covered 10 routes at 3 screen widths and found 30 issues, none of them blocking
- In the usability tests people did not know whether an invite could be accepted without the e-mail, or whether they could leave a project. Both were built right after
- A week of real use showed that WAV uploads above roughly 4.5 MB failed and that drag-and-drop was unreliable. Both went to the top of the list for the next version
- Labels and help text steered behaviour more than expected, so the microcopy turned out to be crucial
